Quoting maximum temperature readings distorts what to do with heatwaves. To make correct findings you need accurate data – the only temperature readings that are useful are the mode readings not the average, maximum or minimum ones. Mode temperature readings are the ones that occur more often during a day. You can’t do any analysis or come up with good outcomes when you just look at extreme values. We live in a society where points of view are expressed in extreme values. This is a bad habit as good value judgments are the only way to go to get good outcomes.

Hi Gayle, I'd love to know where you got the measuring devices. Did you get them on a loan or did you have to purchase them. Our landcare group in Ipswich would love to access this technology as shadey trees are something we could all do with more of along our footpaths when we walk, run or exercise our dogs. Plus it helps the wildlife on a hot day too. Great Article.
